The story was told in alternate POVs and alternate past and present timelines. One incident leads to another which results to The Horsemen plotting revenge on her after several years. Soon she finds herself getting involved with The Horsemen, a group where Michael is part of. Rika has always been secretly in love with Michael but because Michael stays away from him, she just keeps herself from afar, hoping that he would spare a glance at her. Both who came from rich families, these two grew up together but they seem to be totally apart because Rika is already destined to become the future wife of Michael’s brother, Trevor. The story centers around the characters Erika “Rika” Fane and Michael Crist. It was a bit dark and twisted and I must say, a badass version of Bully. To say she’s an amazing writer is an understatement because so far, all her books tick the right boxes for me.Ĭorrupt was another book that stunned me. I don’t think I would ever be disappointed in a Penelope Douglas book. “Life is one-way, and there is no return trip. And now every last one of her nightmares will come true. Because you see, three years ago she put a few of my high school friends in prison, and now they’re out. The opportunity is too good to be true as well as the timing. Until my brother leaves for the military, and I find Rika alone at college. I can always feel the fear rolling off of her, and while I haven’t had her body, I know that I have her mind. She looks down when I enter a room and stills when I am close. My brother’s girlfriend grew up hanging around my house and is always at our dinner table. Her name is Erika Fane, but everyone calls her Rika. He’s bad, and the dirt I’ve seen isn’t content to stay in my head anymore. Now, I’ve graduated high school and moved on to college, but I haven’t stopped watching Michael.
